Access to Services

❓ Operating Days and Hours:

  • ❓ Can external individuals use the services and borrow books?
    The Faculty of Medicine Library, Chulalongkorn University, is currently not open for seating services to external individuals due to various limitations. However, services are available as follows:
  • Chulalongkorn University Faculty of Medicine alumni and affiliated hospitals (e.g., Queen Savang Vadhana Memorial Hospital, Clinical Medical Education Center of Phrapokklao Hospital, Clinical Medical Education Center of Chonburi Hospital, Medical Education Division of Bhumibol Adulyadej Hospital) Alumni may use the library services for 30 minutes. Online services are fully available, and book requests can be made via email, LINE Official, or the library’s Facebook page. For physical books, notify the staff at the entrance, and they will retrieve the requested book. If photocopying is needed, inform the staff. However, borrowing physical books to take outside is not allowed.
  • Personnel from other faculties of Chulalongkorn University Faculty members and personnel can search for desired books in the university’s Online Catalog (OPAC system) at https://library.car.chula.ac.th/. Once a book from the Faculty of Medicine Library is identified, users can log in to the Chulalinet Book Delivery Request system. The Central Library team will collect the book and deliver it to the user’s faculty library on the next business day, notifying the user accordingly. Users who wish to locate books themselves may enter the library for 30 minutes.
  • Faculty, students, and staff from other institutions or organizations Borrowing physical books from the library can be done through the librarians at their respective libraries.
    • For online services, requests can be sent via email at ill_med@chula.ac.th.
    • To borrow physical books, users can search for the desired book in the university’s Online Catalog (OPAC system) at https://library.car.chula.ac.th/. Once a book from the Faculty of Medicine Library is identified, users can request borrowing through their own library’s librarian using the Interlibrary Loan Service (ILL).

  • Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University Community and Staff of King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital (Thai Red Cross Society):
    • Maximum of : 5 books
    • General books : 30 days per loan
    • Reserved books and theses : 14 days per loan
  • Books can be renewed online via the library's system for an additional 30 days. Provide your full name and the book title for the renewal process.
  • Students and Staff from Other Faculties of Chulalongkorn University:
    • Maximum of 2 books
    • 14 days per loan
  • Late Return Fine
    • 3 THB per book per day.
  • Non-Lendable Items
    • Journals, faculty publications, and reference books are not available for borrowing.
  • Membership Registration and Inquiry
    • Available at the Service Counter, 2nd Floor.

  • ❓ What documents are required to make a library membership card?
  • Student information will be automatically imported into the library database. The Central Library retrieves data directly from the Registrar’s Office. Undergraduate students will have membership validity according to the expiration date on their student ID cards. For other levels of students, membership is valid for only one semester and can be renewed with the registration fee receipt for that semester.
  • Those not included in the system, such as faculty/staff affiliated with King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital or the Thai Red Cross Society, visiting lecturers, and medical fellows, are required to present their appointment documents and staff ID cards at the service counter on the 2nd floor to create a library membership card.
